Blair's Art Alley: A Colorful Community Transformation

Something exciting is happening in downtown Blair! A once plain alley between 17th and 18th Streets is getting a bright, colorful makeover. The new Art Alley is turning into a fun, inviting space filled with murals, lights, bike racks, and greenery. It’s becoming a place where people can relax, take photos, and enjoy being part of our community.

This isn’t just about making things look nice—it’s about bringing people together. The project is led by Gateway Development and the Washington County Chamber, with support from local artists, volunteers, and community donations. Earlier this year, the team hosted a successful fundraiser with live music and plenty of energy, raising over $12,000 to support the project.

This past week, artists got to work on the alley walls. They even invited the community to help paint! Whether you picked up a brush or just came to watch, the event showed how proud Blair is to support local creativity.

Downtown Dining Adds to the Experience

While you're visiting Art Alley, it's the perfect chance to check out Blair’s great local restaurants. Grab a homemade pizza at Tasty Pizza or enjoy a hearty breakfast at Blair Classic Café. Red Brick Bar & Grill offers tasty American fare in a casual setting, and Dulce Vida is perfect from Brunch.  And don’t miss the unique flavors at Butch’s Rock’N Deli—it’s a local favorite!

Why Placemaking Matters

Projects like Art Alley help more than just downtown vibes—they support local businesses, attract new visitors, and help Blair stand out as a great place to live and work. When we invest in public spaces that people love, we’re also investing in the long-term success of our community.

Thanks to everyone who donated, painted, or showed support—this project is truly a team effort. Art Alley is proof that small spaces can make a big difference.
